Ivan Nieves became a member of the workers'
compensation team of Katz, Friedman in 2001. Many of Ivan's clients
are union employees. He also handles social security disability claims.
He is proficient in legal research, computer applications, and Spanish,
all of which enrich his practice at the firm. Prior to joining Katz,
Friedman, Ivan worked at several Chicago law firms in the areas of
employment law, medical malpractice, and insurance defense. Ivan is
a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar
Association.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history at Yale University
in 1996 with honors distinction. During his four years at Yale he
worked as a library manager on campus. He earned his Juris Doctor
at the University of Illinois College of Law in 2000 and was admitted
to the Illinois Bar that same year. At law school, Ivan was active
in moot court, international law society, the political union, an
outreach tutoring program, and the Puerto Rican Student and Mexican-American
Student associations. Ivan is a sports fan who works out regularly
and travels when he can for weekend getaways. |
